Who knew Dora liked to GORUCK?

Northeast Tennessee Arrowhead (Indian Trail) Johnson City

It was an absolutely beautiful, cool, and crisp morning for 20 PAX to put in some hard work and better themselves in the process; 48 degrees and calm; lots of dew on the field; the moon was stunning!

THE THANG

PAX were required to bring weighted backpacks, plates, blocks, or Bulgarian Bags to the party. Some PAX did not get the memo. Oh well. As always, YHC is always trying to outdo his previous workout. Let’s see how the PAX would perform with some added weight. Mosey to nearest sideline marker on the football field and pair up.  First PAX would walk/jog to opposite sideline marker and back, while the other PAX would start performing the following exercises below. Once the traveling PAX would return, the paired PAX would switch roles; repeat until given exercise complete before moving on to next exercise.

  • 100 Louganis (Big Boy Situps; Coupon Overhead)
  • 150 Merkins (Coupon on your back)  **This one smoked me the most**
  • 200 Lunges (Coupon preferably overhead; each step counts as one rep)
  • 250 Single-Arm Kettlebell Swings (each swing counts as one rep) **Some grumbling heard during this one**
  • **No time left for 300 Squat to Overhead Coupon Press**

Dora’s Twist: No PAX were able to move on to the next exercise until all PAX were finished as well; the idea was we are only as strong as the weakest link (no “I” in TEAM concept); to add to the misery, when helping others, your reps only counted 1/2 the value. Also, the DORA rules still applied with one PAX from the helping team still making the journey across the field. On paper, this sounded like a good idea, but in actuality, most groups were fairly equal and we all ended up finishing at about the same time with minimal help (I will have to figure out another way to play “games” next time!).

The PAX rose to the occasion and performed admirably today!

MARY – No time left

MOLESKIN – Mea culpa. I wasn’t in the best frame of mind went I went to bed at Zero Dark Thirty this morning. I had an unexpected root canal (from an abscess) earlier in the day, I was up past midnight trying to submit my final class project (worth 40% of my overall grade), which ended up being late because of upload issues. I was stressed and starting to regret signing up for this morning’s Q; what I really wanted to do was fartsack, but duty called and I had an obligation to my fellow PAX to be there “come hell or high water”. Seeing your smiling and motivated faces in the gloom this morning turned my frown upside down! I realized it was in my best interest to lead today’s Q…for my health, for my family, for my PAX! #F3forLife

ANNOUNCEMENTS – Forgot to ask. My bad.
