THE THANG

As it is time for October ball, YHC is reminded of one of the great baseball movies, Field of Dreams.  In it, we have the famous quote “If you build it, they will come.” For the past six months, we have been building the fellowship, the bonds, the leadership, and the fitness in Erwin through F3.  Today, we played a little baseball.  PAX divided into four groups and did the following:

First At-Bat

  • Group 1 – 1st base – AMRAP Squats until group from home runs to first
  • Group 2 – 2nd base – AMRAP Merkins until group from first runs to second
  • Group 3 – 3rd base – AMRAP LBCs until group from second runs to third
  • Group 4 – Home – take a little mosey to burpee cove, complete 5 Burpees, mosey back to home, run to first

Second At-Bat

  • Group 1 – 1st base – AMRAP Lunges until group from home runs to first
  • Group 2 – 2nd base – AMRAP Carolina Dry Docs until group from first runs to second
  • Group 3 – 3rd base – AMRAP Freddy Mercuries until group from second runs to third
  • Group 4 – Home – take a little mosey around the circle, complete 20 Dips at the flag, mosey back to home, run to first

MARY

Baseball is a game of nine innings.  Every inning has a top and bottom to the inning.  To honor this, we did nine innings of the following:

  • Top of the inning – a Merkin for each inning (ie 4th inning – 4 Merkins)
  • Bottom of the inning – a Big Boy Situp for each inning (ie 4th inning – 4 Big Boy Situps)

Now, a baseball game would not be complete without a seventh-inning stretch.  So between the top and bottom of the seventh inning, the PAX took a little mosey while singing the great American classic “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

MOLESKIN
Thankful for the challenge this morning to lead this incredible group of men in Erwin.  It is no lie that this semester has been incredibly challenging for YHC in terms of time to devote to so many things such as teaching, to my own education as I pursue my doctorate, my family, my faith, my mental health, my physical health, and so much more.  This semester has been extremely difficult to get out of bed and find the time/energy/passion to go at it every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday morning to better myself physically.  However, the drive that keeps me coming back and getting up every morning is the incredible fellowship with the men of F3 Erwin.
