These are a few of my least favorite things

YHC turns 40 tomorrow.  As someone eloquently put it, “I’m entering my 5th decade.”  Seems like reflection is a requirement when men turn 40.  It sure is for me.  After 3 Mile agreed to relinquish the Q to me today (Thanks 3 Mile), I reflected on how I could best Q a workout that represents how the men of F3 have impacted my life.  YHC presents to you an entire Q of things I don’t like doing…see moleskin for reasoning

MOLESKIN

What might have been.

Were it not for F3, I might have given in to my gluttonous self.  It’s a continual battle, but I’m winning now.

Were it not for F3, I might have put all of my eggs in my career basket.  That’s not happening, and I’m grateful for that fact.

Were it not for F3, I might have been a worse role model for my kids in the area of self-discipline and taking care of my earthly body.  I’m in the best shape of my life, and my kids are watching.

Were it not for F3, I might not have loved my wife as deeply, nor she me.  Our marriage is stronger than ever.

As I reflected on my current 40-year old situation, I was quick to recognize that it’s not about F3.  It’s about the men of F3.  F3 is the conduit.  The Pax are the wiring.  And the wiring is what carries the power.  It’s because of y’all that I’m hitting 40 in my prime.  And for that I’m very grateful.  I Q’d a workout of things I don’t like to do – simply because those things push me to my physical limits – because that is what the men of F3 have done in my life.  They’ve given me the motivation, accountability, and determination to do things that are hard, and to do them well.  I’m a little embarrassed to say that I wouldn’t do those hard things on my own.  But it’s true.  I’d give up, talk myself out of it, quit earlier, make excuses, etc.  The men of F3 have instilled in me things that make me a better, more godly man.  Thanks for your investment in me.  Thanks for showing up here before the sun wakes up day in and day out.  Thanks for challenging me to work harder than I would on my own.  And thanks for encouraging me along the way.  God knows we all need it. I love you all and count you as 20 blessings in my life.  Thanks for celebrating 40 with me. Here’s to many more F3 years that we can say, “Lord, someday we won’t be able to do this stuff.  But, today is not that day.”.
