Smash-Up Run Group

Northeast Tennessee Johnson City The Hill (Science Hill)

11 PAX ventured out on a 36 degree morning for a smash-up of two of YHC’s favorite run group Qs (both courtesy of Rite Aid).  Halfway through the morning, the stadium lights came on for the Milligan Flag Football Team and everyone’s pace on the stadium stairs increased exponentially.  It also made “Catch Me if You Can” a little easier.

THE THANG
Part one had eight PAX paired off while the remaining three (i.e. the fastest 3) created a trio.  One partner ran the stadium stairs while the other ran the track, switching out when the stadium runner returned to the track.  The trio added a person running suicides (20, 40, 60, etc.) on the field.

Part two repeated a classic “Catch Me If You Can” on the track.  One partner started at 9:00 and one at 3:00 (the trio started at 3, 6, 9 respectively).  One partner chased the other in several quick laps around the track.  Once (or if) one partner caught another, running the track continued until time was called.  Mileage varied between 3.5 and 5+ miles.
