Tips for Your First Workout
A quick checklist for your first post — what to bring, what to expect, and how to get connected.
What to Bring
Most first workouts are simple. If you show up ready to move, you’re good.
- Workout clothes + athletic shoes
- Water
- Cinder block (standard at many AOs)
- Headlamp (if it’s dark) + reflective gear if you’re near roads
- Gloves (optional, but helpful at some AOs)
- If it’s a Ruck: bring a ruck/backpack (weight optional)
- Check Slack for any special instructions
Not sure what the workout is? Check the calendar or the AO’s workout page.
FAQ
Do I need to sign up?
No. Just show up at any workout. No registration, no fees, ever.
What if I'm out of shape?
Perfect. Every workout can be modified. You'll never be left behind.
What does 'PAX' mean?
PAX is what we call F3 participants. You're a PAX as soon as you post (show up).
What's an 'AO'?
AO stands for 'Area of Operations' — it's the name for a workout location.
