πŸ“š PBS’s VQ: A Lesson in Physical Education πŸ“š

Northeast Tennessee Arrowhead (Indian Trail) Johnson City

🌟 “Sesame Street” Meets “Tubthumping” 🌟

On a crisp morning that felt more like a stroll through Sesame Street at a cool 50 degrees, 9 PAX gathered to pay homage to PBS’s VQ, which originally braved a frosty 18 degrees. Just like flipping through the educational channels, today’s workout was a mix of knowledge (stupidity), nostalgia, and a dash of DMX’s grit. 🎢πŸ’ͺ

Our workout was more than just a series of exercises; it was a nod to the educational journey PBS champions, akin to the enriching episodes of Sesame Street. Each rep and run was a letter learned, a number counted, and a lesson in perseverance. πŸ“šπŸŒ

COP:

Warm Up:

  • Motivator IC from 7 πŸŽ‰
  • Merkins IC x 15 πŸ’₯
  • Plank to Running Stretch IC x 5 πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
  • Through the Tunnel IC x 10 πŸš‡
  • Chumbaburpee (SSH and Burpees to the Tub Thumping song) – estimated 80 SSH + 27 Burpees 🎡πŸ”₯

The THANG:

  • RedBarchetta on the Rocks (aka RedBarchetta on a frozen field except we could not get on the field today and had to run on the parking lot) β„οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
  • 100 yard dash, 100 SSH 🏁
  • 75 yard dash, 75 Mountain Climbers πŸ”οΈ
  • 50 yard dash, 50 LBC πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ
  • 25 yard dash, 25 Merkins πŸ’ͺ
  • 10 yard dash, 10 Burpees 🎯
  • Indian run around the school (could not get on the track either) x 5ish, no bonus 6th lap OYO with a β€œrunner’s cross” movement of a modified shoulder pretzel for good measure. They got 2 miles in total the original frosty morning. We got a little less since we are now 7 years older πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ₯¨

Post-Thang Reflections:

While we didn’t have time for a Mary, reminiscent of PBS’s original VQ, we honored the spirit with our efforts and remembered the exercises that were once done:

  • Flutter Kicks IC x 20 🐦
  • Big Boy Situps OYO x 20 πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ
  • ABCs OYO πŸ“š
  • Austin Ass Kickers IC x10 πŸ€Όβ€β™‚οΈ

As we wrapped up today’s homage to PBS’s VQ, it was clear that the spirit of camaraderie and the pursuit of continuous improvement were the day’s true MVPs. Just like PBS, who traverses the country, gathering interesting facts and stories, today’s workout was a journey through physical and mental landscapes. From the frosty dash reminiscent of a RedBarchetta escape to the rhythmic beat of Chumbaburpee, we embodied the essence of a DMX track – relentless, gritty, and with a beat that just won’t quit. πŸŽΆπŸ’Ό

In the spirit of PBS’s original reflection, getting up and braving the cold is indeed an amazing thing and very glad it was not the case today. That being said, it’s a testament to the power of the PAX – what’s utterly miserable alone transforms into something exhilarating and memory-making with friends. The cold that can be a barrier becomes the backdrop for a morning of laughter, effort, and unity. Thank you, PBS, for setting the bar high, for showing us the value of gathering, whether it’s around a trellis of knowledge or the physical exertion of our workouts. Your VQ was not just a workout; it was a lesson in embracing the cold, the challenges, and the community with open arms. πŸŒŸβ„οΈ

So, here’s to PBS, a man who not only knows the ins and outs of the digital world but also understands the value of real-world connections. Your legacy is not just in the workouts you’ve led but in the lessons you’ve imparted and the trails you’ve blazed, both on the field and in the vast, interesting world you navigate. Thanks for letting us be a part of your journey, for the miles run, the burpees endured, and the memories made. πŸŒπŸˆπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
