Northeast Tennessee

Backtrack- Episode 110- Looks like I skipped this episode last time

Northeast Tennessee Arrowhead (Indian Trail) Johnson City

It was supposed to be a day for Ultimate Frisbee πŸ₯, but thanks to several water slide mishaps πŸš‘ at last night’s VBS our Q was feeling less than agile. With only four brave PAX showing up and yours truly nursing a colorful souvenir (a spectacular hematoma), we audibled to F3 disc golf! 🌧️🌲

DISCLAIMER
Warning: Today’s game involves flying discs and possibly flying bodies if you’re not careful. Participation may lead to unexpected laughter, camaraderie, and a newfound respect for water slides. Proceed at your own risk and enjoy the misadventures! πŸ˜‚πŸ’¦

PRAYER
Thanked God for the cooler weather, the ability to move (despite bruises), and the company of fellow PAX who don’t mind a change in plans. πŸ™

Warm-Up:
The lineup started with:
– **Imperial Walkers** – Because we needed to pretend our joints were still limber.
– **Hillbilly Walkers** – Getting those rural vibes.
– **Willie Mays Hayes** – Stretching out any residual slide-induced trauma.
– **Good Mornings** – Forward and back, to ensure all parts still moved.
– **Sticky Butt Kickers** – Painful yet necessary, like my landings last night.

The Thang:

Hole number one kicked off at the lamp post, with the red swing at the swing set as the target. Teams were pitted as Ghost Rider and Jake versus Bobber and Gutterball. The designated exercise was underdogs, with each stroke translating into five reps.Β  We fast moseyed to get to the next disc shot to keep our heart rate up. Both teams secured an eagle with four strokes, leading to 20 underdogs each at the hole’s conclusion. πŸ¦…πŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈ

Next, we moved to the last tree on the hill, with World War I sit-ups as the exercise. Achieving a triple eagle, we performed 15 sit-ups in celebration. 🌳πŸ₯‡ The subsequent hole targeted the tree in the middle of the parking lot, where each team scored an eagle with three strokes, resulting in 15 merkins per player. 🌲πŸ’ͺ

The fourth hole’s target evolved mid-game from the chair behind the softball home plate to the blue playground ball by the backstopβ€”an update missed by Team Gutterball. Despite the mix-up, Team Ghost Rider aced it with a quadruple eagle in three strokes, while Team Gutterball, aiming for the original target, completed the hole in four strokes, followed by the appropriate number of Freddie Mercurys. πŸŽ―πŸ”„

From there, our course veered back towards the side entrance of the school to hit the light pole, paired with mountain climbers as the exercise. Ghost Rider then led us on an extended trek, hyperbolically spanning 10 miles, to a sign near the baseball field entrance where we executed crunches. πŸ«πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Our adventure continued to the baseball light pole along the third baseline. Team Gutterball amazingly hit the same nearby tree on their first two throws, while Ghost Rider’s disc ended up on the field, necessitating a fence climb for retrieval, all culminating in hand-release merkins for strength. ⚾🌳 Next was the first base on the baseball field, then we had to hit the middle blocking dummy in the outfield with burpees called by Gutterball, intensifying the workout. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸ”₯

We aimed for the light pole outside the first baseline, then targeted the yellow foul pole along the third baseline. With limited time remaining, Jake designated 4 step-ups per stroke for the next exercise at the flagpole in front of the school. A mix-up in target perception led to a quick change mid-round from Jake’s intended large flagpole to the playground flagpole, as players continued towards the last light pole, performing 28 step-ups per leg due to the fourteen strokes per player. πŸš©πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

The final exercise of the day was 10 pull-ups each as GhostRider saved the day with a nice eagle 2 to tie the game, rounding off an eventful and physically demanding disc golf session. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸŽ‰

No Moleskin, just the echoes of laughter and the thud of a disc golfer’s reality hitting the grass.

BOM (Ball of Man):
Gathered closely, we reflected on the day’s fun and the unexpected joys of adapting on the fly. It’s not just about the game; it’s about rolling with the punches (or the slides) and coming out laughing.

Today was more than a game of disc golf; it was a testament to F3’s spirit of flexibility, camaraderie, and the occasional wild card thrown into our routine. Until next time, keep those discs flying and those spirits high! πŸ₯πŸš€
