It was a cool morning in the mid 30s as 9 brave Pax ventured out to engage in the excitement of what’s to come, with one bobbing around with a weighted vest.  Didn’t need to tap the pencil for this Q – welcome to your humble correspondent’s top 10 merkins.

THE THANG
We moseyed around the school stopping for 10 reps of each merkin (or variation) on the list. Filler exercises were done in some cases, mostly at 10 reps.

10. Diamond merkins (at the flag)

  • Mosey to the swings, 10 underdogs

9. Merkins with a shoulder tap

  • Mosey to the bottom of the hill

8. Peter Parkers

  • Mosey up the bottom half of the hill and to home plate, 10 Freddie Mercuries IC

7. Derkins

  • Lunge to the end of the island tip,

6. Carolina Dry Docks (we’ll call it a merkin cousin after the mumble chatter that ensued)

  • Mosey to front entrance, 10 frickin 20s

5. Merkins

  • Walk to the pain cave, Raccoon crawl the wall

4. Incline merkins

  • Mosey to the corner, 10 Australian snow angels (not Supermans)

3. Hand release merkins

  • Mosey about 100 feet along the school, 10 LBCs IC

2. Uneven merkins, on the curb

  • Mosey to the flag, 10 pullups

And YHC’s #1 merkin…. Merkin with a twist

100 merkins completed as the mumble chatter ensued. Some Pax pointed out the merkins omitted from the list. Now it’s time for everyone to share their favorite merkin. Going in order from youngest to oldest with some gentle moseying in between and filling in the gaps with a mix of underdogs, Freddie Mercuries, flutter kicks, LBCs.
