A slightly less hot and humid morning brought 11 Pax with coupons to the spot. When YHC pulls out the recycling tubs` and chalk, you know what’s coming. Got to take advantage of the summer light. It’s ultimate football time. Same basic rules, but a few new twists.

THE THANG
Jester and Jake were captains and chose the teams. We played 7-minute quarters. Change of possession due to dropped ball in the playing field (non-end zone), everybody did one burpee. At the end of each quarter, Pax did a round of 7s (2 exercises with the reps totaling 7, ie, 6/1, 5/2, 4/3).
- End of Quarter 1: Curls / Overhead press
- End of Quarter 2: Merkins with coupon pull through / 4ct mountain climbers
- End of Quarter 3: Squat thrusters / KB swings
The 4th quarter was shortened to 5 minutes to allow for this a priori routine.
- 7x the opponent’s score: SSH
- 6x the opponent’s score: Ski jumps
- 5x the opponent’s score: Block squats
- 4x the opponent’s score: Merkins
- 3x the opponent’s score: Dips
- 2x the opponent’s score: Pull-ups
- 1x the opponent’s score: Burpees
Turns out the score was 3-3. Wasn’t too bad. Unlike our collective ability to catch a football, which was bad. We did a lot of burpees – particularly in the 3rd quarter when everyone was tired from merkin pull throughs.
Lastly, we suitcase carry the length of the playing field.
