Moleskin: Be Slow to Anger and Quick to Repent π€π
Brothers, todayβs beatdown reminded us how quickly our legs can betray us when pushed β much like how quickly anger can flare up and betray our witness. Scripture calls us: βEveryone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desiresβ (James 1:19β20). π£οΈπ€
And again, βWhoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts follyβ (Proverbs 14:29).
From a Reformed perspective, we know that even our best efforts at self-control fall short because of indwelling sin. God Himself is βmerciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast loveβ (Exodus 34:6). His patience toward us in Christ β not treating us as our sins deserve β is the ultimate model. When anger rises, we must be quick to repent, turning to the cross where Christ absorbed the wrath we deserved. True repentance isnβt just sorrow over consequences but a Spirit-wrought turning from sin to God, trusting His grace alone for forgiveness and transformation.πβοΈ
