Episode 88: 🌟 Cold Morning, Hot Workout: F3’s 2000s Throwback 🌟

Northeast Tennessee Arrowhead (Indian Trail) Johnson City

With the mercury dipping to a chilly 26° F, six PAX – Jake, Gutterball, Zippo, Honeysuckle, Woz, and Bobber – braved the cold for Zippo’s first day as AOQ with a Dora-style workout that was as intense as it was nostalgic. Accompanied by a soundtrack straight out of the 2000s, including the adrenaline-pumping tunes of Rocky 4, The Outfield’s “Winning It All,” and Third Day’s “Soul On Fire,” the PAX embarked on a fitness journey that tested their strength, endurance, and willpower.

Warm-Up:

  • Motivator from 5
  • Then we warmed up doing some of the P90X Style Exercises we would be doing in The Thang

The Thang – Dora Workout:

  • The PAX started at the first light an one PAX rant to the 3rd light and did 3 Bobby Hurley’s or X Jumps: Explosive jumping exercises. Bobby Hurley’s involve squatting down, touching the ground, and then jumping up with hands raised. X Jumps are where you jump up and spread your arms and legs to form an ‘X’ in the air.
  • Here are the excercises the PAX who was not the runner was doing:
  • 100- Front Kick, Sidekick and Back Kick: A combination of martial arts-style kicks. A sidekick involves kicking out to the side, while a back kick involves kicking backward.
  • 100= Overhead Presses: A weightlifting exercise where you press weights upward from shoulder height to above your head.
  • 100- Jab Cross Hook Uppercut: A sequence of boxing punches. A jab is a straight punch with the lead hand, a cross is a straight punch with the rear hand, a hook is a rounded punch, and an uppercut is an upward punch.
  • 100 Merkins
  • 100- Jab Cross Sidekick: Combines the boxing punches (jab and cross) with a martial arts-style sidekick.
  • 100 Dips
  • 100 (2 count)- Wacky Jacks: A variation of jumping jacks where you touch your knee with the opposite hand while jumping.
  • 200 IC Train Engines: In a running stance with feet stationary, rapidly move your arms back and forth as if running, causing your feet to rotate back and forth in sync with your arms and torso.   Do 25 hitting your partners hands, then swap.  Each PAX does 4 sets.

The workout was a true testament to the PAX’s grit, as they powered through each set with determination, punctuated by the rhythmic sound of train engines and the occasional high-five. The session ended right on time, leaving no room for Mary but plenty of room for reflection.

Circle of Trust:

In the closing moments, the PAX gathered to discuss the theme of contentment in life, drawing inspiration from Jeremiah Burrows’ “The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment.” It was a moment of introspection and motivation, reminding everyone of the importance of finding peace and contentment in our daily lives.

Announcements:

No announcements for the day, but the spirit of camaraderie and self-improvement was palpable, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
