Episode #90:🎢 Belinda’s Beatdown: Heaven, Earth, and Tabata Turmoil 🎢

Northeast Tennessee Arrowhead (Indian Trail) Johnson City

On a crisp morning where the mercury barely climbed to a chilly 36Β°, six brave souls – Jester, Gutterball, Zippo, Ghost Rider, Valance, and Jake – gathered under the clear, dry sky to test their mettle against a Tabata workout that promised more hits than a ’00s playlist. With warm-ups that had us feeling like we were preparing for a ‘Rocky’ montage, we kicked off with Imperial Walkers, Hillbilly Walkers, Little Baby Arm Circles, Sticky Butt Kickers, Mountain Man Poopers, and Willie Mays Hayes. It was a prelude to the main event that had us all wondering, “Is this Heaven or just a place on Earth?”

Tabata Tunes:

As “Eye of the Tiger” roared through the speakers, we embarked on our Tabata journey with the ferocity of a jungle cat. But it wasn’t long before Eiffel 65’s “Blue” had us feeling anything but, as we powered through each exercise with the enthusiasm of a ’90s dance floor. Toto’s “Africa” blessed the rains down in our workout, twice, because once just wasn’t enough for a song that epic. Belinda Carlisle assured us that “Heaven is a Place on Earth,” but we argued for a bit before we agreed that she was the original artist, and in the end we were inclined to believe her, especially during those Little Baby Crunches. Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” had us hoping for a call to end the madness, while “The Final Countdown” by Europe signaled the near end of our musical Tabata torture. But like any great playlist, it left us wanting more.

Each exercise is to be performed for 20 seconds at maximum effort, followed by 10 seconds of rest before moving on to the next exercise. Repeat each pair of exercises four times before proceeding to the next round.

Our Tabata remix included a strategic shuffle, moving Round 7’s “Underdogs and Big Boy Sit-Ups” up to Round 6, and then letting the PAX pick their poison for the final round. With breaks that felt like intermissions between concert sets, we caught our breaths, shared laughs, and prepared for the next hit. The stroll back from the swing sets was our cool-down track, a moment to appreciate the morning’s symphony of sweat and success.

Circle of Trust:

As we circled up, the words of wisdom reminded us to prepare for the next phase in our life and dont be complacent when things are easy and going well..

Final Track:

No announcements, just a reminder to keep hitting play on the soundtrack of our lives and to never be afraid to dance like the NANTAN’s not watching because the NANTAN has not been around in months!
