πŸ€πŸ§± “Where Jake Has You Throwing Your Block – A Tribute to Tennessee’s Sweet 16 Victory” πŸ§±πŸ€

Northeast Tennessee Arrowhead (Indian Trail) Johnson City
Good Friday Cross

On a day that mirrored the intensity of a Sweet 16 showdown, 6 PAX members – Etch A Sketch, Fireball, Jester, Jobs, Zippo, and yours truly, Jake – gathered in the gloom missing many other PAX just like the Vols missed Santiago Vescovi. Inspired by the🍊 University of Tennessee’s 🍊 heart-stopping victory over Creighton, we decided to channel our inner Dalton Knecht and throw our blocks, not just in basketball, but literally over the pull-up bar. 🌟 Clear skies and a brisk 42Β°F set the stage for our own March Madness. 🌌

One a really cool side note, as we were doing our Under Dogs, Zippo told us to look to the sky and 3 airplanes made a perfect cross in the sky… how fitting for the day after Good Friday. (The picture does not do it justice as it took time to get the phone and the planes were not in the perfect position.)

Warm-Up:

  • Imperial Walkers (20 IC) πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ
  • Hillbilly Walkers (10 IC) 🏞️
  • Little Baby Arm Circles (10 forward and 10 backward IC) πŸ‘ΆπŸ”„
  • Mountain Poopers πŸ”οΈπŸ’©
  • Calf Stretch and Etch A Stretch 🦡
  • Side Straddle Hops 🌟

The Thang:

Divided into teams of three, we embarked on a challenge that had us throwing blocks with the precision of a Knecht three-pointer. πŸ€ One group tackled the pull-up bar, launching their blocks over with the teamwork of a well-oiled machine, while their partners dashed to the farthest light pole and back. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’¨ The other group, channeling their inner field athletes, threw their blocks across the field, dropping for a Merkin with each pick-up, a nod to the strength behind every athlete’s throw. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

With 60 throws conquered, we shifted to the picnic tables for a series of step-ups and dips, escalating from 5 to 15, mirroring the escalating tension of a close game. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ Then, like the Vols sprinting down the court, we dashed to the front of the school for 25 Bobby Hurley’s (or Josiah Jordan James) and 50 IC baby crunches, feeling every bit the burn of a final push to victory. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’₯

Next we stopped on the other side of the school and at the swing sets we did underdogs and plank leg and arm lifts, a true test of endurance and strength. πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ

As the morning unfolded with the same intensity as a nail-biting basketball game, our PAX, fueled by the spirit of Tennessee’s recent victory, found themselves back at the picnic tables for a series of incline and decline push-ups. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ Just like the Vols moving the ball down the court, we moved from seat to seat, pushing our limits with sets of 5 and 10 push-ups. Each push-up felt like scoring a point against our own limitations, with the cold, hard surface of the picnic tables serving as our court. πŸŒ„ The teamwork and determination mirrored the Vols’ relentless pursuit of excellence, each of us motivated by the collective energy and the crisp morning air.

For our final play, we sprinted to the pull-up bars, our very own version of the final buzzer shot. Pulling ourselves up for 5 pull-ups, we channeled every ounce of strength, akin to Zeigler’s game-changing plays. πŸ€ Following up with 10 pickle pounders, we added a bit of fun to the mix, much like a victory dance in at half court. To cap it all off, we held Al Gore, standing strong and united, much like a team in a huddle, ready for whatever challenge comes next. This wasn’t just a workout; it was a testament to our resilience, teamwork, and the sheer joy of pushing through together, under the stars just like the Tennessee legends Dale Ellis, Allen Houston, and Chis Lofton before us. 🍊🍊🍊 🌟

Reflections:

Just as the Vols showed heart and hustle on their way to victory, so did we, pushing through every rep with the determination of a team on the brink of the Final Four. 🌟 In the spirit of Tennessee’s triumph, we left it all on the field (and the pull-up bar), proving that with teamwork, determination, and a little bit of madness, anything is possible. ⛹️

Words of Wisdom:

Remember life and what it is, a vapor or a mist.Β  Only what we do for Christ in the light of Eternity will last.

Announcements:

No announcements today, but let’s carry the energy of this workout and the Vols’ victory into the rest of our day and beyond. πŸš€
