Flicker Murph Edition

Northeast Tennessee Arrowhead (Indian Trail) Johnson City

It was a 60 degree morning during the right time of the year for enough daylight to make flicker a good choice (flicker=ultimate frisbee but with a football). 7 PAX participated in the competition.  Since this wasn’t our first dance on the flicker court (ie, the parking lot), the competition committee (ie, YHC) approved some new competitive rules – which seemed to work well.

Mosey to the playground parking lot.  Two cars were parked there – and they chose the middle of the lot.  So we shifted the field to the end closest to the monkey bars – which in retrospect, was a good idea.

THE THANG
Captains Bobber and Jake chose the teams.  Bobber had 4, Jake had 3.  New competition committee rules. 1. 3ft circle around the bucket – no defenders allowed in the circle. 2. All change of possession exercises are done on YHC’s count – as to avoid cherry picking. 3. Dropped ball in the circle is a clean change of possession (no exercise).

Half the lot was designated Squats.  The other half Merkins. If the ball hit the ground on that designated area, we did 5 reps on YHC’s count.  The first change of possession was 20 merkins and 30 squats – to load us up.

After each score, all PAX did 10 pull-ups, with defending team making the walk down the lot to receive the next kickoff.

Halftime (ish) was a time to break up the routine. We did the following:

  • Ab medley IC (10 each): LBCs, Freddie Mercuries, Flutter Kicks, American Hammers, LBCs
  • Reverse table top x30 seconds
  • Pickle pointers IC x10

The final score was 7-3 (team Bobber).  That means we did our Murph allotment of pullups.
