The Vern:

• Start with a 3/4 mile run.

• That is 2 laps around the school staying on the road the whole time with no cutting of corners from the first light pole back to the fire hydrant at the end. • The other option is to run from the first light pole to the end of the parking lot (the curb at the end) then back about 5 feet past the crosswalk at the start 5 times ending at the first light pole. • Yes, I used Google Maps to measure everything.

• After the run do: • 10 Pullups • Run from first light pole to 3rd light pole • 20 Merkins • Run from first light pole to 3rd light pole • 25 Dips • Run from first light pole to 3rd light pole • 30 LBC • Run from first light pole to 3rd light pole • Once you finish that 5 times • Run 3/4 mile

Romans 5:3–5

3  Not   only   that ,   but   we   f rejoice   in   our   sufferings ,   knowing   that   suffering   g produces   endurance ,   4  and   endurance   produces   character ,   and   character   produces   hope ,   5  and   h hope   does   not   put   us   to   shame ,   because   God’s   love   i has   been   poured   into   our   hearts   through   the   Holy   Spirit   who   has   been   given   to   us .

In real life, this truth transforms how Christians face trials such as chronic illness, financial hardship, or persecution: rather than despairing or merely enduring stoically, we rejoice knowing God uses these to build perseverance and mature faith, ultimately strengthening our assurance of salvation. For instance, a believer grieving loss or battling depression might cling to this passage, finding joy not in the pain itself but in God’s refining purpose, experiencing the Spirit’s comfort as evidence of His eternal love—turning suffering into a pathway to greater hope and intimacy with Christ.
