Spring Clean-Up

Tuesday, March 3, 2026

The weather is starting to get warmer, although it was partly cloudy, quite damp, and in the mid 40s. 12 Pax showed up for a Q that ended up having quite a few story-lines. So much to cover. The moon. The music. The cleaning.

THE THANG

YHC decided over the next few Qs to have a decade of music during each workout. That’s the first story-line, this Q was all 1950s. We listened to Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Johnny Cash, Elvis, The Coasters, and since songs were only 2 minutes long back then, quite a few others on the playlist. Funny how many songs talked about manual labor.  You load 16 tons, what do you get? Another day older and deeper in debt.

The next story-line: time for some spring cleaning. YHC brought a bunch of tools: various shovels, a rake, a pop-up trash can, a recycling can, and a few shopping bags.

• First task: move the mulch off the street. Pax partnered up. Pax 1 ran around the school once while Pax 2 shoveled mulch back onto the playground. flap jack. • Clean up the place. Pax 1 did 2x their Merkin number of Merkins while Pax 2 picked up loose trash on the ground near the flag. flap jack.  Get all that garbage out of sight. Or you don’t go out Friday night. • Moving to the swings. Pax 1 did 2x their Merkin number of Underdogs while Pax 2 picked up trash near the swings and the roundabout. flap jack. • Move to softball home plate. Pax 1 lunged the outside sidewalk the distance of home plate to first base, then ran to the outfield pole and back to 1st base, continuing to lunge from 1st to home. Same thing on the 3rd base side. All this while Pax 2 picked up trash near the softball fields. flap jack.

It was around here that another story-line emerged. The moon was doing moon things around this time. While waiting on the six, several Pax wanted to partake in the moon-like activities. But it was cloudy, so moon-like activities did not occur. Although a softball field light kind of looks like a moon.

Youth basketball is wrapping up. Good luck. Starburst wrappers are not enjoyable to pick up. If you’ve read this far, it’s time to wash your gloves.
