Feeling the Bern

Northeast Tennessee Johnson City Iron Horse (Founders Park)

It was a chilly morning of 35 degrees, but that did not stop 19 PAX (including an FNG) from coming out and feeling the Bern! Some showed up with leggings and sweatshirts and some posted with shorts and cutoff sleeves. Which ever you prefer is the best decision to start the day!

To get things going and to take some of the chill off the bones we started with The Motivator from 7 followed by a stead stair loop run. We continued with The Motivator from 6 followed by another stair loop run. At this point the blood is almost flowing so we did (yes another) The Motivator from 5 with (yep) another run around the stair loop. Now that we are sort of warmed up we stretched with a set of 15 TTT, 20 Imperial Walkers and 10 Merkins to round out the warm-up.

As the Q on this cold morning and not a fan of cold weather, I promised to stay warm and hopefully keep everyone else warm as well. So we grabbed a partner and moseyed to Tombstone Hill with a block between each partner for some Bern.

Once at the hill the Thang was explained. I like to call it the Bernie B.O.M.B.S. Similar to a Dora 1-2-3 but more exercises. Pax 1 does exercise while Pax 2 Bernie Sanders to the top of Tombstone Hill and runs back down. Swap out and continue the exercise until each amount of reps are complete. The exercises and reps are:

  • 50-  Burpees
  • 100- Overhead Presses with the blocks
  • 150- Merkins
  • 200- Big Boy Sit-ups
  • 250- Squats

Unfortunately time didn’t permit the completion of every exercise, but it did offer a great sweat.

After moseying back to the amphitheater we couldn’t let Mary go with nothing, so a set of 25 flutter kicks ended the workout.

Prayer request were gather for some friends and family and we lifted them up to our Heavenly Father!

Just a quick thought….We all have things going on in our lives that can feel like the weight of the world is holding us down. Remember you can only control what you can control. Let all the other things be lifted up to God and allow burdens to be bared with others as much as possible. We cannot go through this life only we need the help and support of others and we have a great group of supporters.

Come to F3….It’s a lot of fun!

  1. Get ‘er done, TN! Glad to see my brother, Funny Bone, finally posting up. I’ve been giving him the EH for a while now. Told you F3 was a blast. Even when it hurts. / Ascot from Nc-Carpex
