Northeast Tennessee

Merkins and Derkins and Burpees and Trains (…and running)

Northeast Tennessee Johnson City Iron Horse (Founders Park)

12 PAX awoke in the gloom on a soggy mid-40s morning.  The weather man promised rain beginning during this Q and he didn’t disappoint (who else gets paid for being right less than half the time????).  The PAX logged a little over 2 miles this morning and logged a grand total of 100 merkins (IC).

MOLESKIN
Just a reminder that in the busyness of life, we need to ensure we don’t forget the eternally important things.  For example, yesterday I was very short with the M and 2.0’s.  Upon reflection my conclusion is it more about my response than their behavior or attitudes.  As men we should be starkly aware of the need to set an example for our families and those that look up to us (neighbors, relatives, employees).  In I Cor. 13, known as the chapter of love, Paul says in v1, “If I speak human or angelic languages but do not have love, I am a sounding gong or a clanging cymbal.  If I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge, and if I have faith so that I can move mountains but do not have love, I am nothing.”  Let me repeat that, “nothing”.  The end of I Cor Ch 12 describes and elevates spiritual gifts, but then in v31 he says, “But desire the greater gifts.  And I will show you an even better way.”  What is the better way?  Read the letter as it was written.  Ch 13 describes the greater gifts.  This will encourage and allow the fruit of the Spirit to well up from within us.  So when you’re tired, short frustrated, and in general just not being nice (some would call that being a “meany”), reflect on I Cor Ch 13 and choose to respond with love……

Love you guys…..
