Sometimes circumstances don’t go our way or we make a wrong call. It’s difficult in times like that to not feel like a failure, but just because we fail, doesn’t automatically make us a failure.
The Bible tells us that we can be content no matter what circumstances may surround us. Phillipians 4:13 tells us, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” but we neglect to note that the previous two verses talk about how Paul has discovered the secret to being content regardless of if he is hungry or full, wealthy or poor, “for I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Sometimes we need to remember that Christ doesn’t just give us strength only when we ask. Christ is also like a magnet: If you leave a screw stuck to a magnetized screwdriver for too long, that screw will start to become magnetized. Likewise, if we spend enough time with Christ and in His assurance of who He is and our position as fellow heirs with Him, we pick up on that and find that our screwed up circumstances often aren’t that big of a deal in the face of the eternal hope that we have to look forward to.
The challenge for the week is to remember in the midst of plans that go awry and good ideas that don’t pan out, that we are still Sons of God and there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Failing doesn’t make you a failure.
