Northeast Tennessee

There’s always a first time for the Kilo 5k

Northeast Tennessee Johnson City Iron Horse (Founders Park)

Disclaimer

12 PAX climbed out of bed on a 68 muggy degree morning to put in some hard work.  The kilo 5K is a beatdown introduced by Rudy several years ago and overtime has made its way to most – if not all – the F3NETN AOs.  YHC has not been fortunate enough to participate before and neither had most of the PAX this morning from a quick straw poll.   This was a good morning to change that.

Warm-up

  • SSH 25 IC
  • TTT 10 IC
  • WMH 10 second R/L
  • Merkins 10 IC

The Thang

Two stations were set up 0.16 miles apart from the stairs near the amphitheater to the far end of Founder’s Park field.   The mission was simple – 10 rounds of 10 exercises with 10 reps (1,000 reps total) each while running back and forth to log enough miles for a 5k (3.1 miles).  While the mission may be simple, the achievement was hard as no PAX finished 10 rounds before time ran out.  Most PAX including YHC only completed 5-6 rounds, but no one complained when time was called.

Station 1

  • Diamond merkins
  • X-factors
  • Smurf jacks
  • Plank jacks
  • American hammers

Station 2

  • Burpees
  • Monkey humpers
  • Boat canoes
  • Carolina dry docks
  • Jump squats
